Stem Cell Implantation

Stem cells can be implanted in a variety of ways depending on each patient’s ailment and physical condition.  Depending on the treatment objectives, a combination of different implantation approaches may be used.

Local Stem Cells Injections

Stem cells injected to tissues at selected target areas of pain or areas which a regenerative / rejuvenate effect is desired.

Intramuscular

The stem cells are injected directly into the muscle.  Intramuscular implantation is very safe and does not require anesthesia.

Intrarterial (Arterial puncture)

Intra-arterial administration is ideal for vascular conditions or where the maximal effect of cells needs to be administered.  The stem cells are injected directly into the organ past the lung and dilution in the blood pool.

During the procedure, an experienced physician injects the stem cells into the desired organ through a fine tube inserted into the artery through a puncture under local anaesthesia.

Once inside the spinal fluid, the stem cells are able to gain access to the organ. Intra-arterial delivery usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Intra-Articular (Into the Joint)

The stem cells are injected directly into the affected joint by a licensed physician.  This method is commonly used for arthritis.  Intra-articular implantation is quite safe and does not require anaesthesia.

Intrathecal (Lumbar Puncture)

Intrathecal administration is ideal for neurological conditions because the stem cells are injected directly into the spinal fluid past the blood-brain barrier.  This enables them to reach the spinal cord and brain.

During the lumbar puncture procedure, an experienced physician injects the stem cells into the spinal canal through the lower vertebrae under local anaesthesia.

Once inside the spinal fluid, the stem cells are able to gain access to the spinal cord and into the brain.  Lumbar puncture usually takes about 30 minutes.

During the consultation, a treatment program will be designed to meet your needs. A full information pack will be issued on the selected program and injection routes planned (how treatments are given, such as the number of stem cell injections and type of injection) once a patient signs-up for our cell-therapies.
